What are “PRELIMS”?
PRELIMS (Preliminaries) is the method used to choose the fastest swimmers from your Division, who will then swim at the Division Championship Meet (FINALS).
Each child can swim every stroke at PRELIMS. The fastest 6 people in each stroke plus 2 alternates will be posted as FINALS qualifiers. These swimmers could be from all four teams or mostly from one team, whoever has the best times.
Relay teams do not compete in PRELIMS. Rather, each team is allowed to send one Medley Relay and one Free Relay team from each age group to the Division FINALS meet.
There are no medals or ribbons awarded at PRELIMS.
